Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

The PMFBY will benefit the farmers in the event the crops gets affected in the form of flood or any other way. If such things happen, the government will provide them the insurance amount as promised under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This scheme was first introduced on 13 January 2016.

PMFBY Eligibility Criteria

The following are some of the eligibility criteria set by the government that need to be fulfilled by the PMFBY before applying

  • Only farmers will be able to take advantage of this scheme.
  • The farmers who haven’t taken any crop insurance before can apply for the PMFBY.
  • Crops like pulses and Cereals, oilseeds, and annual horticultural crops will be covered under the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana 2021.
  • Both for land’s crops as well as for rented land’s crops, the PM Fasal Bima Yojana is applicable.

  2. The land must be in use like crops has to be sowed in the field.

  4. All record of land like Khasra Numbers of fields.
  5. Bank details ( Pass book first page copy )
  6. Signed letter from the Patwari
  7. A passport size photograph of farmer.
  8. Registered mobile number of farmer.

Benefits of PradhanMantri Fasal Bima Yojana

  • The insurance amount provided under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana will boost farmers to do farming.
  • On very low premium amount, this insurance scheme is provided to the farmers.
  • This scheme covers insurance if the crops gets affected due to natural calamities and insects.
  • As per this scheme, a premium of 2% will be paid for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Ravi crops and 5% and 5% premium will be paid for horticultural crops.
  • Both state government and central government will take care of implementing this insurance scheme.
  • If any unprecedented situation happens like war, nuclear risks, theft, riots and destruction by domestic, this insurance is not applicable.
